Current Position: President, Robert Schultz Consulting- an issue management, strategic planning and land use consultancy, established in 1989. Also provide contract Project Management for James Kent Associates, Basalt, CO.
Recent Projects:
- Colorado State Parks Strategic Plan. Consultation and meeting facilitation regarding the future of the state's 44-park system.
- Holy Cross Underground Transmission Line. Wrote applications to Town of Snowmass Village and Pitkin County, led public participation process to insure public support, negotiated land use and funding agreements. The agreement was the first successfully reached in Western Colorado.
- Place Based NEPA. Wrote training class for professionals and citizens to better implement the intent of the National Environmental Policy Act through public participation. Class is offered through Bureau of Land Management National Training Center- Partnership Series.
- Aspen Waldorf Foundation Strategic Plan, Strategic Plan update.
- Carbondale Commercial Code Amendments. Authored code amendments and led amendments through review process.
- Selected projects of Note: Washoe County Comprehensive Plan, Team member for developing and implementing growth management plan that won regional and national APA awards.
- Washoe County Issue Management System, Lead consultant
For ground-breaking project to decentralize budget and planning decision making.
- USFS Strategic Plan for Recreation, Heritage, and Wilderness
Resources, Lead consultant for national strategy. Overhaul of agency and significant legislation resulted.
- Cultural Attachment Study, Lead Consultant and Project Manager for study that led to new federal protection for living cultures.
